Elizabeth woke up in her room.

Which she hadn't for the last few days.

She sat up, blinking and looking confused.

That was odd.

[[ooc: Various RL issues cropped up over the last few days, and really, my brain isn't working well enough to come up with any fun reason as to why she disappeared for x-many days. Thankfully she's from the Stargate universe, so blame Asguard/NID/USAF/*insert alien conspiracy here*]]

Janet had been sleeping soundly after dropping off her excuse notes for the day, but her painkillers had worn off and so she opened her eyes when a particularly injudicious shift had made her ribs twinge.

"Hey," she said, when she saw Liz sitting up in bed. "Where have you been, anyway?" Hopefully she wouldn't have to explain her ribs to Liz.

Elizabeth shrugged. "Your guess is as good as mine," she said, moving experimentally. "My guess, by the way, is abducted by aliens. What day is it?"

"What, again?" asked Janet. Though usually they knew the aliens abducting them. Thor. "It's Wednesday. You realize that if you've been abudcted by aliens, you could possibly be a clone?" She giggled.

"On a more serious note, are you okay?"

Marty walked in on the tail end of Janet's statement.

"Aliens? Clones? Could that be- Naaaah. That's just stupid," he thought to himself.

"Hey Janet. Hey Weir, where've you been?"

"Hey, Marty," Elizabeth replied. "I've been, well, away, obviously."

Hmmm. Yes. Really needed to work on that cover story.

"uh... yeah. Kind of noticed that. Anywhere in particular? Preferably someplace warm and you aren't in any dangers of being bitten by a crazy vamp?"

From: [identity profile] notcalledlizzie.livejournal.com
Elizabeth just decided that it was easier to nod. "Yep. Well. No crazy vamps. Potentially little grey aliens, but that's it."

"I hate vampires," muttered Janet. Thank goodness she'd worn her peasant blouse to bed and just slipped off her jeans. She really didn't want to worry Liz, and if she'd seen Janet's taped ribs, she'd be worrying.

"So you've missed hearing the news this morning. Turns out the mayor's abandoned town and it's a little in chaos."

"I have missed all and any news. It's a little disconcerting," Elizabeth said, frowning slightly. "As is the idea of Fandom town in chaos."

"I feel like it's Zombie Weekend all over again," said Janet wryly. "Except without the hordes of restless dead. I'm glad you're back, though."

"Don't tempt fate," Elizabeth said, warningly. "And I'm glad to be back. Which, considering this place, could be considered worrying by some. But hey!"

"Not when you think of who's here," said Janet, grinning at Liz. "I mean, you're glad to be back to see us, right? What would we do without you?"

She was starting to wonder why Marty was eavesdropping not saying anything.

From: [identity profile] notcalledlizzie.livejournal.com
She nodded. "Of course I'm glad to see you. Course, I'd also be glad to see you somewhere else, but here's good."

Elizabeth paused for a moment. "Okay, I need coffee. And I don't know what you'd do without me. Have one less person to share chocolate with?"

"Coffee? Bah! We've got an espresso machine in here now. Who wants a latte?"

"Oh, good god, yes please!"

One might get the impression that she's not had caffiene in a couple of days.

"What? Didn't you have coffee wherever you were?" Marty asks as he sets up the machine to brew and heads toward his mini-fridge to grab the milk.

"Noooo," Elizabeth replies slowly. "Coffee wasn't really a part of the whole experience."

From: [identity profile] oatmanspatient.livejournal.com
"So are you going to tell me where you *did* go, or am I going to have to guess?" Marty asked as he steamed the milk and poured it into the cup with the espresso. "Light or heavy foam?"

Date: 2006-01-25 10:04 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] notcalledlizzie.livejournal.com
"Light please," Elizabeth said, her brain trying to work quickly. "Some stuff came up unexpectedly, and I had to make sure it was done. I wasn't in any one place really."

Date: 2006-01-25 10:10 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] oatmanspatient.livejournal.com
"Yeah... I can understand that," Marty said thinking back to his trip home over the weekend. "I was gone all weekend myself taking care of... stuff."

Marty hands over the latte and starts to work on Janet's drink.

From: [identity profile] notcalledlizzie.livejournal.com
"Thank you," she said, cupping the mug and inhaling the aroma gratefully. She didn't ask about the stuff. Because that would lead to questions about her own stuff.

So she concentrated on the coffee instead. Mmm coffee.

"Other than possibly let muppet chickens sleep on her bed while she's gone? Nothing much," Marty quipped. "Not that it happened while you were gone but... it's a possiblity."

"Rumor has it that we were invaded by muppet chickens let in by some freaky blue dog that you had," said Janet. "Whatever happened to that, anyway? And yes, I'd love a latte. Also, Liz, I'd probably get stuck TAing both of Dr. Pierson's classes, so please don't vanish on me."

Elizabeth dropped her head in her hands and groaned. "Muppet chickens? Freaky blue dog? Do I even want to know?"

She looked across at Janet. "That better not be the only reason you don't want me to vanish."

"Of course not," said Janet, winking at Liz. "It's also because you're cute and I'd miss you."

Okay, now how was she going to sit up and lean back against her headboard without showing off she was in pain? Damn. Very, very slowly, that was how.

Date: 2006-01-25 10:12 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] notcalledlizzie.livejournal.com
Elizabeth laughed. "I like that reason better," she grinned.

With perfect timing, she leant across towards her bedside table and began rummaging amongst the items there.

"I was hoping so," said Janet, giggling along with Liz. "You're back! We should have a party to celebrate. You know, just the Colorado Springs people." Because I have the slowplay all set up and I was just waiting for you to get back online.

Janet hoped Marty wasn't paying too much attention right now. She bit her lip--hard--to suppress a cry of pain and hauled herself so that she was sitting upright. When she leaned back against the headboard of her bed, she sighed in relief.

Ow. Ow, ow, ow. She hated vampires. A lot.

There is! Hopefully access won't be too bad. I'm just thankful it's not next weekend, because hello Pegasus One!

I would point out that I'm only doing three this year, that I've booked, but that still sounds awful *g* I won't be at one until August after this though *g*

Yay! And yes. Mostly. After I take my cousin to the cinema.

*pats* One of the advantages of the UK... we have lots of cons. There's another two this year that I won't be doing. And it's bad because it's so expensive.

Am there. Yay

Janet smiled at Marty. "Thanks," she said, fumbling under the blankets for her jeans. "Can you set it on my night table for me?"

Then she spotted them lying on the floor next to her bed. Damn it.

Noticing the glance, Marty put the cup on the table and tossed her jeans on the bed.

"Need me to pull closed my privacy curtain Fraiser? That I'm just handwaving that I put up but said I would in an earlier post."

"Apparently so," Elizabeth sighed, leaning back, before straightening again. "Wednesday? Awww, govno. So much for a perfect attendence this semester. It's going to be fun. "Please excuse me, I don't know where I was!""

She laughed. "A clone? Well, imagine what that would be like. And I think I'm fine. A bit headachey, but that could be from anything."
