239/240 - Wednesday afternoon

Despite having been raised in New England, Elizabeth didn't really like snow. It was fine for skiing, say, but she was quite happy staying inside in the warmth and watching the snow from her window.

One might accuse her of hiding, but she'd prefer to call it strategic concealment.

Janet stroked her fingertips lightly down Elizabeth's back. "All right," said Janet. "Do you know what it isn't?"

"No," said Elizabeth unhelpfully, relaxing slightly under Janet's touch.

"What can you tell me," said Janet softly, her fingertips still gliding along Elizabeth's back as she shifted closer. "Anything?"

Elizabeth sighed. "I love you?" she suggested.

"I knew that," said Janet, chuckling. "I've never doubted it."

Elizabeth smiled slightly, turning around so that she was facing Janet. "Good."

"As if I could ever doubt how you feel about me," said Janet. She leaned forward and brushed a feather-light kiss across Elizabeth's mouth. "But if there's anyone who knows how complicated these sorts of things can get, it's me."

"I know, honey," murmured Elizabeth, reaching out to loosely grasp Janet's hand.

"It's okay that it's complicated," said Janet, squeezing Elizabeth's hand. "It's worth it. I can promise you that."

"Anything's worth it as long as I have you," said Elizabeth quietly.

"No pressure, though," said Janet lightly.

"No pressure," agreed Elizabeth.

"I'm the one putting pressure on myself. I know that," said Janet. She reached over and brushed Elizabeth's hair back. "It was nice that they called on your birthday."

Elizabeth nodded slowly, leaning towards Janet's hand. "Yeah," she said softly.

"Would you rather they hadn't?" asked Janet, her fingertips tracing the curve of Elizabeth's face.

"I.... I honestly don't know," admitted Elizabeth, sighing slightly.

"What can I do?" asked Janet. "Anything?"

Elizabeth shook her head. "I'll let you know if I figure anything out," she said.

Janet nodded. "I know I can't do anything," she said. "I wish I could. Think we can hijack a space ship and make Thor find a way to return us to our real ages?"

"I believe if we put our minds to it, we could do anything," said Elizabeth, smiling slightly.

"I agree," said Janet. She grinned at Elizabeth. "We could abandon Fandom and become space pirates for the rest of our senior year."

"Sounds like fun to me," said Elizabeth. "Just as long as we're together."

"Always," said Janet. She met Elizabeth's gaze and suddenly looked serious. "I could never leave you."

"I know, sweetheart," said Elizabeth softly. "I couldn't leave you either."

"Well, I'm glad we settled that," said Janet, lacing her fingers through Elizabeth's. She giggled. "I wasn't worried."
