239/240 - Wednesday afternoon

Despite having been raised in New England, Elizabeth didn't really like snow. It was fine for skiing, say, but she was quite happy staying inside in the warmth and watching the snow from her window.

One might accuse her of hiding, but she'd prefer to call it strategic concealment.

"I know, sweetheart," said Elizabeth softly. "I couldn't leave you either."

"Well, I'm glad we settled that," said Janet, lacing her fingers through Elizabeth's. She giggled. "I wasn't worried."

Elizabeth squeezed Janet's hands, smiling. "Me neither," she said.

"If there's anything that you shouldn't worry about, it's that," said Janet. "Was there anything special you wanted to do today?"

"Just to spend time with my favorite girl," Elizabeth replied.

"Best friend? Favorite girl?" Janet grinned. "Keep this up, and I'll get a swelled head."

Elizabeth giggled slightly. "No you won't," she said confidently.

"Not for long, anyway," said Janet. She kissed Elizabeth softly. "Do you want your present soon, hon?"
