239/240 - Before Homecoming

One thing about sharing a room with your date was that dresses on occassions like this weren't a surprise.

Of course, in Elizabeth's case, she hadn't decided which dress to wear, so that was going to be a surprise for her too.

What do you mean, this is a bit last minute?

Janet was already in her dress and desperately trying to get around to iconning it, and giggling helplessly at Liz. "You're being a little ridiculous, honey," she said, covering her mouth to unsuccesfully hold in the laughter. "You know I'm going to think you're beautiful in anything that you decide on."

Elizabeth turned from her closet and pouted. "Am not being ridiculous," she said.

"Okay," said Janet, who'd already put her dress on. And her makeup. And her jewelry. "You're not being ridiculous. But you are going to be beautiful no matter what."

Elizabeth smiled. "Thank you," she said softly. "You look amazing, by the way. I especially like the length of your skirt."

Janet twirled in a circle, arms spread, and stopped, grinning at Liz. "You mean how incredibly short it is?"

Elizabeth grinned. "Uh hu," she said, nodding.

"I bought it because I thought you might like it," said Janet. "I just have to put on my heels and I'm ready."

Elizabeth span back around to look at the closet. "Right. Dress," she said firmly, glancing over them and finally making a decision. "I'll be ready in just a couple of minutes."

"It's gorgeous," said Janet softly. "Take your time, we're not in a hurry."

Elizabeth smiled as she tossed her robe over the back of a chair. "I'd like to try and get there before the punch is spiked at least," she said.

"It's certainly a possibility," said Janet, her eyes flickering to follow the robe, and then snapping back to Liz. "They usually don't spike it until fairly late."

Elizabeth grinned. "Although if we are late, this'll be the one time it gets spiked early," she said.

"Oh, you're right," said Janet, frowning. "The problem is that with you in that dress, honey, I think I want to be late."

"And here I am, barely even in the dress yet," said Elizabeth, grinning as she slipped it over her head.

"That's part of why I want to be late," murmured Janet, leaning back and watching Liz get dressed.

"So, would I be in trouble if I asked you to zip me up?" asked Elizabeth, grinning.

Janet laughed. "I'll be good," she said, pushing herself up. "At least until later tonight. I do get to un zip you too, don't I?"

Elizabeth smiled, pulling up her loose curls. "Oh, absolutely," she murmured.

"I'll hold you to that promise," said Janet, walking up behind Liz and leaning in close. She pressed a soft kiss to Liz's cheek, then stepped back and zipped up the dress.

Elizabeth let her hair drop and turned to smile at Janet. "Thank you," she said, leaning down to kiss Janet briefly.

"You're welcome," said Janet, reaching for Liz's hand and threading her fingers through it. "Should we go?"

Elizabeth nodded firmly. "We should," she said.
