Marty woke up, desperate for a cigarette. She reached out for the packet on her bedside table only to discover that they weren't there.

Five minutes later, a fruitless search turned up no cigarettes and also no Pink Ladies jacket.

Marty resisted the urge to stop her foot as she delved back into the clothes, returning with a pink shirt that was perhaps a little too low cut and a little too tight. But hey! They were seniors now.

She fluffed up her curls confidently. Hopefully she'd be able to bum a cigarette off someone.

"Of course I'm adorable," said Janet. Okay, something was obviously wrong, but still, maybe it was just random amnesia? "And how could you not remember seeing me? We roomed together. All year. Also there's that thing where we're dating."

Marty's eyes widened. "Oh my God, what are you on about?" she shrieked. "You're a girl! And I don't even know you."

Apparently dating a girl was more shocking than dating a complete stranger.

"Not funny, Liz," said Janet flatly. If this were a joke, it had officially gone too far.

Marty frowned. "What are you talking about? My name's Marty, not Liz."

"Sure. Right." Janet rolled her eyes. "We're not at Rydell, we're at Fandom, your name isn't Marty, it's Liz, and not only have you known me since last September, you've also known that whole time that I'm a woman. Did Crazy Squid Lady show up and hypotize you or something?"

Marty backed away slowly. "Crazy Squid Lady?" she asked. "I'm thinking the only crazy one in here is you."

Janet was going to be stuck in a permanent state of glare if this kept up. "Did you eat in the cafeteria? You swore you were never going to do that."

"No, my mom's going to give me a bag lunch to take with me," said Marty. "I'll eat outside with the rest of the girls."

"Your mom lives in Connecticut," said Janet. "And she doesn't even know you're here. Liz, what the hell is going on? Did someone cast a spell on you or something?"

Marty glanced for the door and slowly started backing towards it. "Did you want me to call a doctor for you?" she asked brightly. "Because we're not in Salem in, uh, 16, uh. Whatever year they held those witch trials."

"They were in 1692," said Janet, giving Liz a look. "I know you know that. Aren't you the one who's friends with the magic teacher? Plus remember Piper? She's a witch." She shook her head. "And what do mean 'call a doctor for me?' I am a doctor, hon."

Marty gave her a 'yeah right' look. "I ain't friends with no teacher. Who do you think I am? Patty Simcox?"

"We don't have any students here named Patty Simcox," said Janet, rolling her eyes. "And yes, you are friends with her, even if she's freakish and weird."

Marty rolled her eyes. "I wish we didn't have her, but we do," she said. "The only freakish and weird person I'm friends with is Sonny."

"No, there's no Patty or Sonny." Janet let her head fall against the wall with a loud thunk. "I hate this place," she groaned.

"Oh there definitely is," nodded Marty. "Because if there wasn't a Sonny, then who's hands keep a-wandering down on me, if you get my drift?"

"Well, as far as I was aware," said Janet, her voice icy. "There was no one but me."

Marty's eyes widened. "Woah. I think I'd have known if a girl was doing that to me!"

It would really be unethical to drug Liz and take her to the clinic, wouldn't it?

"Given that you were an active participant, trust me, you knew," said Janet. "Could you possibly calm down about the fact that I'm a woman, given that we've been dating for months?"

It wasn't possible for Marty's eyes to get any wider. "I've only been dating Sonny, and okay there was that guy from Minnesota who was visiting his aunt this summer," she babbled.

"Are your running a fever?" asked Janet, getting up out of her chair and moving over to Liz too quickly for her to back away. "Did you hit your head?"

She grabbed her penlight out of her jeans and flashed it in Liz's eyes to check pupil dilation.

Marty ducked her head. "Hey, you're blinding me with that. What are you doing?!"

"It's supposed to check pupil dilation," snapped Janet. "You're not acting like yourself; I'm trying to determine the cause."

"I'm acting exactly like myself," protested Marty. "How are you supposed to know how I'm supposed to act considering this is the first time you've met me?"

"Why won't you believe me!" exclaimed Janet. She glared at Liz, then leaned forward and planted a kiss firmly on Liz's mouth.
