239/240 - Friday evening

Elizabeth returned to her room happily ladden down with books. Lots and lots of books.

She'd also grabbed the post on the way up, and idly wondered what Janet had ordered from Logitech. She dropped the box on the bed and moved to the bookshelves, ready to reorder them.

"We could get it out of his apartment and photocopy it. I'm sure he wouldn't--okay, he would mind, but he'll forgive us." Janet blushed faintly. "Oh. I am glad we're both here."

"That sounds like a cunning plan," Elizabeth nodded, grinning. She reached out an arm towards Janet, shuffling even closer. "Me too."

"I've got a key. I generally treat his place like my own anyway," she said. Janet snuggled into Liz's arm. "I wasn't doing so well before I came here."

Elizabeth trailed her fingertips gently down Janet's arm. "Weren't we going to take advantage of his bathtub one day?" she asked innocently. She hugged Janet closer. "Would the not doing well include the locking of the cheerleaders in the locker rooms?"

Janet shivered. "We were, weren't we?" she said, equally innocently. Janet nodded. "You think I'm cranky now, you should've seen me then. They did kind of deserve it, though."

"Mmm, yep," Elizabeth nodded, continuing to move her hand up and down Janet's arm. "I'm sure they did, dear."

"We'll have to do that some time. Proably soon." Janet leaned her head on Liz's shoulder. "I still have issues. And I know you noticed the nightmares."

"Sooner is good," Elizabeth agreed, turning to kiss the top of Janet's head. "I know you do, and yeah. It's not as if I'm issue and nightmare free myself though."

"I agree," said Janet. "Given our lives, I'd be more surpised if you were. But issues and nightmares don't scare me. At least not if they're not mine."

"We also have a date to do. And we should try last at least until the food arrives this time," Elizabeth said. "That's good. Although the nightmares are less frequent and not as bad when I'm in bed with you."

"So we do. Where do you want to go for that? Someplace that doesn't serve milkshakes?" asked Janet, giggling. "That's good. We'll just have to keep sleeping in the same bed then. But if you ever want to talk about them..." Janet let her voice trail off.

Elizabeth grinned, blushing slightly. "We had suggested Ching Tai, hadn't we?" she said. She bit her lip and nodded. "I know. It's just something I'm not used to doing, but I am getting better. I mean, I talked to Kate last weekend; even if the triggering factor was me freaking out because I got caught in a thunderstorm for God's sake!"

"We had, yes," nodded Janet. "Neither am I. It helps sometimes, though. Why a thunderstorm?"

"I'm still happy for Chinese if you are," Elizabeth said. She froze, saying nothing for a moment. "There was, um. There was a storm - a huge storm - that nearly destroyed Atlantis the first year we were there," she began.

"As long as that idiot delivery boy isn't our waiter," said Janet. She squeezed Liz, trying to reassure her, but stayed silent. It sounded like there was more to the story.

"If he is then we're perfectly allowed to leave," Elizabeth declared. She cuddled closer. "McKay and Zelenka had an idea, but it was risky. So, we evacuated Atlantis but our supposed allies to whom we had evacuated to, told the Genii that Atlantis was running on a skeleton crew and they sent in troops."

"Good. I'm yelling at him if he's an idiot," said Janet firmly. Janet started running one hand through Liz's hair. "That sounds like a bad start."

"I'll let you do that, that's fine," Elizabeth said. She shuddered. "McKay and I were held hostage by them. This would be the first time I was held hostage by the Genii," she said, trying to make light of it. She paused again. "Kolya was going to kill me."

"I don't like this Kolya person very much," said Janet, keeping her voice calm. "Or the Genii."

"There was a time we thought we could be allies," Elizabeth said quietly. "Rodney stood in front of me; told Kolya that they needed me."

"Then what happened?" Janet put her other arm around Liz. "That was brave of him."

"They betrayed us," Elizabeth said simply. "When we first met them, we were involved in a joint mission to a Wraith hive ship and they tried to steal our C4 and puddle jumper."

Janet frowned. "Why would they do something like that?" she asked. "We've always been willing to share technology, or trade, if at all possible."

"Because they wanted more than we were willing to give," Elizabeth explained. "They also believed that Teyla was responsible for killing one of them while they were on the Wraith ship."

"They ended up wanting Atlantis, from the sounds of it," said Janet. "And revenge. Teyla was innocent, I presume?"
