After spending most of the day at the clinic sitting with Jack, Charlie returned to the room. "Damn," he said when he saw Liz. "You weren't kiddin' when you said about the paint."
Elizabeth spread her arms out, and looked down at herself. "Cameron and Crichton have a lot to answer for," she said. "It's the last time I'm getting roped into helping paint someone's apartment!"
Charlie couldn't help but laugh. "You really look a sight, y'know that? And you knew Daniel in Colorado. *Anything* to do with him usually turns into some kinda chaos."
He stepped forward and brushed her hair away from her face, as sticky as it was. He still had an amused look on his face. "I think we're in Topsy Turvy world. I mean, Sam being sociable is weird enough, but her asking other people to be sociable with her?" He shook his head. "Crazy place we live in. And you're covered in paint."
"That.. " He shook his head. "Doesn't surprise me at all. You're gonna have a fun time trying to get all of that stuff out of your hair.. and off your arms.. and, well, everywhere?"
"Ahhh," he nodded in understanding. "Well, I *could* help seeing as though I'm not doing anything right now.." Charlie moved closer, then reached his hand up and rubbed at a bit of paint on her forehead with his thumb. "What can I say? I'm a helpful guy."
"Well, if we're gonna do this, we should do it right. We're gonna need something to wash away the paint, some shampoo.." His hands drifted to settle on her hips. "A little privacy, proper attire.."
Charlie nodded and opened the door. "Here's the part where we be very very sneaky. Super-spy-like even." He put on his most innocent expression and led her down the hall to the stairs, then up the stairs until they reached the fifth floor. "Don't worry," he reassured her as he opened the door to one of the rooms. It was spotless, aside from an ominous-looking picnic basket on one of the beds. "Friend of mine lives here.. the one that loaned me the basket for our picnic. He and his roomie are out of town for the weekend, they have an en suite, and they don't lock the door because they don't have opposable thumbs."
"With the gossip mill this place has? We woulda had someone selling admission tickets within ten minutes! This is nice.. outta the way.. private." He nodded and grinned.
"Ohhh. Well, if it was someone else, I'd be right there selling the tickets with you. Gotta make a profit around here somehow." He closed the door behind them. Charlie shook his head at the mess of paint all over Liz. "They really did a good job with the paint."
"And women in Janet's case." Charlie opened the door behind him, then helped Liz untangle from the painted shirt once it was over her head. "Better come on in here so we don't get paint on the carpet."
Charlie turned and walked into the en suite, placing her shirt on one of the hangers on the wall. He pulled his own shirt over his head and tossed it to the ground, then slid open the door to the shower and turned on the water. He felt the water and adjusted the heat until it was at a comfortable level.
Whilst he was playing with the shower, Elizabeth kicked off her shoes (damn, she hadn't noticed the paint on them) and her pants, feeling very thankful that she had changed before she had gone over to Daniel's.
Once the water was right, Charlie continued leaning against the frame of the shower door and pulled off his shoes and socks and kicked them out of the way. "Now if you had more paint under the clothes, I'd be wonderin' just how frisky Cam and Crichton were getting." He pulled off his pants.
