239/240 - Friday evening

Elizabeth returned to her room happily ladden down with books. Lots and lots of books.

She'd also grabbed the post on the way up, and idly wondered what Janet had ordered from Logitech. She dropped the box on the bed and moved to the bookshelves, ready to reorder them.

"That was when Rodney stepped in front of me," Elizabeth said softly. "Then we were kept outside in the storm while he made McKay mend the grounding stations. Kolya threatened to kill me again. He just used me as a bargining chip to get to John."

"No wonder being caught in a storm affected you like that." Janet's voice was quiet. "Kolya's a terrorist. Of course he tried to use you as a bargaining chip. But you all got through it."

"I almost didn't," Elizabeth admitted. "When they were leaving, he was taking me with them; to serve the Genii."

"Slavery." Janet's eyes narrowed. "I'm liking these people less and less. But one thing I've learned over the years, hon, is that the 'almost didn't' doesn't count. You got through it. That is what matters. Though I'm curious how you got through it, I'll admit."

"John saved me. Kolya had me and we were in front of the gate. John shot him and he let go of me and fell back through the gate," Elizabeth started shaking again. "John said he wasn't aiming at me, but I still felt that bullet go past me."

"Shh, it's all right. I know, it's terrifying." Janet held on, trying to calm Liz's shaking. "Your life was at risk. Of course that affected you."

"I'm sorry," Elizabeth whispered. "I thought I'd talked this all out with Kate last weekend."

"I don't mind. I promise." Janet smiled. "You know that, right? Any time you need to talk. I'm here."

"I know," Elizabeth nodded, reaching her arms around Janet to hug her back.

"Do you feel better?" asked Janet. "Did you still want to talk about it?"

"A little better," Elizabeth admitted. "But I don't think I really want to talk about it anymore right now."

"I didn't really think so," said Janet. "What do you want to talk about, then?"

"Firstly how we should possibly move from the floor, because my butt is going numb?" Elizabeth suggested lightly.

Janet giggled. "Mine too; I just didn't want to say anything." She disentangled her arms from Liz and stood up, then reached out to help Liz stand. "Your bed or mine?"

"Yours," Elizabeth grinned, taking the offered hand and standing. "Mine isn't actually properly made."

"Oh, no," said Janet. "Mine seems to have a box on it, though. What's that?"

Elizabeth blushed slightly. "There didn't seem to be much point in making it up when I wasn't really using it," she admitted. "Um. You had post. I brought it up earlier."

"I'm only teasing," said Janet, smiling. "Contrary to popular belief, not all members of the armed forces are trained into permanent anal-retentiveness about having the bed made constantly." She went over to the box, somehow forgetting to let go of Liz's hand along the way. "Hm. I wonder what it is? Logitech?"

"Just the Navy?" Elizabeth grinned, happily being led across the room. "You've not ordered anything then? So much for hoping it was another bikini!"

"No, I got the new bikini a couple of days ago," Janet said distractedly, then realized what she'd said and blushed. "I don't know what this is."

"Oh," Elizabeth asked, raising an eyebrow and grinning. "Does that mean it's fashion show time later?" She let go of Janet's hand and moved to stand behind her, wrapping her hands around Janet's waist and leaning forward. "I guess the only way to find out is to open it then, right?"

"Um, yeah," said Janet, flushing a deeper red. "Fashion show time. Definitely." She looked around. "I just need to find a pair of scissors or a box cutter."

"Good," Elizabeth smiled, although she was watching the blushing with amusement and concern. "Hon, is there something I should know about this bikini?" She looked around too. "Um. Pass?"

"Um. Daniel called when I was trying it on the first time," she blurted out, then dove for her nightstand to look for a box cutter.

Elizabeth dropped down to sit on the bed next to the box, glancing back at Janet. "Then why are you blushing?" she asked, confused.
