239/240 - Tuesday Evening, revision

There had been a reason she'd taken bio, hadn't there?

It's something you've not done since high school, so you thought "why not?" And with all the Ancient gene stuff flying around this past year and a half, you thought it would be useful

All it meant that she was spending the next couple of days revising.

She looked at the next lot of notes. Bleh. Amino acid metabolism.

"Hey," said Janet, totally ignoring the fact that it was actually Wednesday morning tossing her backpack on her bed. "How's it going?"

Elizabeth looked up, and smiled. "Could be better...," she said, holding up the book. "Bio final coming up, so I'm trying to remember everything I've learnt this past semester."

"Ooh, biology?" asked Janet eagerly. "Need any help?"

Elizabeth snickered. "I was hoping you'd ask. It saves me having to try and bribe you."

"You could bribe me anyway," said Janet hopefully. "Besides, bio's fun. What're you reviewing now?" She sat down next to Liz.

"Milk Dud?" Elizabeth asked, holding out the packet. "Does that work as a bribe? I am currently reviewing human endocrinology."

"Caramel and chocolate?" asked Janet. "I'm helpless to resist you. So what about the endocrine system confuses you? Please don't say 'everything.'"

"That's always good to know," Elizabeth grinned.

She spread the notes out in front of her. "I get autocrine, paracrine and endocrine signalling. And I get hormone regulation. But I'm not so sure about the receptors being transmembrane proteins and how once the hormone's binded, and the sequence of intracellular signals afterwards."

"And now you're going to abuse the knowledge shamelessly, aren't you?" asked Janet. She stuck her tongue out at Liz.

"It's not as complicated as you think it is," said Janet, studying the notes. "Here, hand me your spiral and let's start with receptors."

OOC: And we're going to handwave our way through the science, as I'm at work and don't have time to look this up so I sound like I know what I'm doing. Works?

"No... I have shame," Elizabeth replied, sticking her tongue back out at Janet.

Elizabeth nodded as Janet took her through the topic, asking her to backtrack a couple of times.

"Okay... I think I've got it now."

[[ooc: I honestly never expect anyone to want to take me through bio notes, not even when I was still studying it myself! So, it works fine]]

"You do?" asked Janet, looking surprised. "Are you sure?"

"Good." Janet grinned. "So now what do we do?"

Elizabeth nodded. "Yes, I'm sure. I may have less shame when it comes to you, but I still do have shame," she said, grinning.

"Not studying," she said firmly, uncrossing her legs and lying back down on the bed, trying not to crush any of the pages of notes.

"That's a shame," said Janet, giggling.

"Movie? Gossip? Eat junk food?" Janet sighed. "I'm bored."

"It's a shame that I have shame, or a shame that I have less shame when it comes to you?" Elizabeth asked, also giggling.

Elizabeth propped herself up on her elbows. "Gossip? Do you have any gossip? I am so out of any and all loops!"
