Friday afternoon - Around and about

Elizabeth might have already been for a short walk this morning. But this walk was for the purpose of seeing what she could photograph for her workshop and Janet was coming with.

So, after the fun at the beach workshop, she headed back to the cabin to pick up her camera once more.

"I'm not even the one licking cream off my fingers," Elizabeth pointed out.

"No, but you have some very nice reactions to that," said Janet helpfully.

Elizabeth just blushed at that, becoming very interested in finishing her milkshake off.

"Ready?" asked Janet, licking the last bit of milkshake from her upper lip.

"Oh, definitely," Elizabeth said, her voice low.

"Oh, thank goodness," said Janet. She stood up and held out her hand to Liz.

Smiling, Elizabeth took the offered hand and stood up. "Let's go."

"How fast do you think we can walk?" asked Janet.

"I'm sure it'll be a record time for us between town and school," Elizabeth nodded, her pace quickening slightly.

"Absolutely," said Janet. "But we could, um, use the exercise?"

"I don't think we need to worry about the amount of exercise we're going to be getting today," Elizabeth said, grinning slightly.

"No, we really don't." Janet shook her head. "Lots of exercise. Lots of really fun exercise." She paused. "The dorms seem a lot farther from town than usual right now."

"This is currently frustrating exercise," Elizabeth declared. "Ooh, I see the gates I think."

"Not as frustrating as all that, I hope," said Janet. "We have a goal in mind, after all." She started walking a little more quickly.

"Oh, I know," Elizabeth said, matching her pace with Janet's. "I'm blaming the cabins for all this."

"I think the school administration lives to frustrate us," said Janet, slipping through the gates and holding them open for Liz. "Don't you?"

"Oh absolutely. But they're not fussy about who we room with, which is less frustrating. Imagine if we had roommates to deal with all the time!"

"Imagine if we had roommates we didn't like to deal with," added Janet. "But they're amazingly lax on the rooming issues, which I like. Sometimes I wonder how I'm going to deal with military regulatioins after this place."

Elizabeth glanced at her. "Are you sure you're going to have to deal with them?"

Janet shrugged. "I don't know any more," she said. "But the option is there, and it was a big part of my life for a very long time. But--I don't know if I want to go that route again."

Elizabeth smiled, squeezing her hand slightly. "It's not something you have to worry about yet, so don't think of it for now."

Janet's grip on Liz's hand tightened. "I know. I've got plenty of time to think about it. And let's face it, there are a lot of factors to consider." She looked sidelong at Liz.

"Just promise me that you won't decide not to do something because of me," Elizabeth said softly.

Janet glanced over again. "If I decide to do or not to do something, you'll be a consideration," she said, talking in a slow, considering tone. "But that's how it should be, because you're important to me."

Elizabeth nodded. "Okay, I can accept that. Because it's pretty much the same for me, so there we have it."
