Friday afternoon - Around and about

Elizabeth might have already been for a short walk this morning. But this walk was for the purpose of seeing what she could photograph for her workshop and Janet was coming with.

So, after the fun at the beach workshop, she headed back to the cabin to pick up her camera once more.

"Good," Elizabeth nodded, offering her hand to Janet as she headed towards the door.

Janet bit her lip, slowly gnawing on it a little as she reached to take Liz's hand, interlacing their fingers together.

Elizabeth squeezed Janet's hand briefly as she pulled her along out of the cabin. "Did you see the Stickbug's hair this morning?" she asked.

Janet shook her head. "I slept in and then ran straight to Galactica Point." Work was too busy this morning. She looked apprehensive. "Why? What happened to them?"

Elizabeth giggled. "They woke up this morning in the middle of the campsite, with hair the color of the rainbows," she said. "I was tipped off by Isabel yesterday, so I got photos and video footage on my digital."

Janet snickered. "Oh, that's just beautiful. Though I have to say that I'm glad I'm not part of the inter-cabin rivalry."

"God, yeah, me too," Elizabeth said. "It's great to watch, but I'm not exactly one for practical jokes and pranks."

"Oh, I am," said Janet. "But only when I'm in a bad mood. I'm not in much of a one lately, though."

"That's good to hear. We need to keep you out of bad moods," Elizabeth nodded.

"I don't do so well when I'm in them," said Janet, drifting closer to Liz as they walked.

Elizabeth squeezed Janet's hand again. "Well, then definitely keep you out of them," she said.

"You do a good job at that," said Janet, squeezing back.

"You don't do so bad yourself at keeping me happy, y'know," Elizabeth said lightly, looking down to smile at Janet.

"Is that so?" asked Janet, glancing away briefly. "I--wasn't so sure lately."

Elizabeth stopped abruptly in the middle of the path and moved to take Janet's other hand. "I wouldn't be half as happy in this place... in this body without you," she said simply. "No matter what things I might come out with when I'm in a bad mood."

"Good. Because the last thing I want is to make anyone unhappy." She sighed. "I know we're in a weird situation. But I'm glad. That you're happy with me, I mean."

"I know, and I am happy. I promise," Elizabeth assured her, letting go of Janet's hands and instead wrapping her arms loosely around Janet's waist

Some of the tight look around Janet's eyes melted away at that. "Thanks. For telling me, I mean."

"You're happy too, right?" Elizabeth asked, a small amount of concern creeping into her eyes.

Janet nodded, moving a little closer to Liz. "Of course I am," she said. "Things get weird sometimes, but I'm still happy."

"That's good to," Elizabeth said, smiling. She glanced up and down the path before leaning down to gently kiss Janet.

Janet blushed as their lips met, but she brought her hand up to briefly touch Liz's face.

Elizabeth pulled away after a moment, slightly regretfully. "Come on. We have a lunch date, remember? And as much as I'd like to continue kissing you, I think we'd be better off doing that somewhere that's not the path between the camp and town!"

Janet giggled. "Privacy really is a good thing," she said.

"It is. And you know, I'm sure no one would fault us if we took advantage of the privacy back at the dorms," Elizabeth nodded.
